Amie Strickland, American Paintings and
Decorative Arts Specialist, received her Master of Arts degree in Art
History from Tulane University with a concentration in 19th century European
paintings, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Vanderbilt
University while interning at the New Orleans Museum of Art during the
summers. After receiving her degree at Tulane, Strickland taught as an
adjunct professor at the University College and temporarily acted as Visual
Resources Curator in the Art Department before accepting a position at The
Historic New Orleans Collection as the Assistant Curator of Education and
Museum Programs. At The Collection, she participated in the award-winning
“Dollop of History in Every Bite” program for New Orleans Public School
children and helped coordinate and research the joint exhibition between the
New Orleans Museum of Art and The Historic New Orleans Collection, The New
Orleans Arts and Crafts Club: An Artistic Legacy. Strickland is a native of
New Orleans and attended the Academy of the Sacred Heart.
