* Guillaume De Lisle (French, 1675-1726), "Carte de la Louisiane et Cours du Mississipi", Paris, 1718, second state, double-page copperplate engraving, in outline color, sheet 20 1/4 in. x 27 1/4 in., attractively float-mounted and framed.
- Notes: Note: This was the first map to accurately describe the vast Mississippi Valley and, as such, was widely copied and referred to for the next fifty years. As the first printed map to name Texas (Mission de los Tiejas, 1716) De Lisle has received proper credit for establishing Texas as a geographic place name.
