.Robert Wadsworth Grafton (American, 1876-1936, active New Orleans, 1916-20), "Gardiner Van Ness and his Dog", oil on canvas, signed lower right, 37 in. x 33 in., in a period giltwood frame. Accompanied by two Michigan City Library Association catalogues from 1952 and 1997 where the painting is listed in both and reproduced in the latter. E7000-10000 Provenance: Collection of Michigan City Public Library, Indiana. The identification of the sitter is from the artist's scrapbook in the collection of the Grafton family.
