.Will Henry Stevens (American/new Orleans, 1881- 1949), "View of Lake Pontchartrain Through Oaks", oil on board, c. 1920, signed lower left "W.H. Stevens", 12in. x 16in. E9000-12000 Note: Stevens came to New Orleans in 1920 at the urging of Ellsworth Woodward to teach at Newcomb College Art Department. sonice had previously studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy under Frank Duvenek and worked for several years as a painter/designer for the Rookwood Pottery Factory. his early New Orleans works were very much influenced by Cezanne and the Impressionist palette. The painting being offered is a fine example of this period of his oeuvre.
