A Chinese Kesi Dragon Robe, early-to-mid 19th c., finely woven in the split weave technique with nine five-clawed dragons and flaming pearls above a terrestrial diagram and lishui stripe at the hem amid ruyi cloud clusters interspersed with bats clutching double peach sprays and wan emblems, picked out in various colors on an apricot yellow ground, the lapel and collar woven in split weave with further dragons, bats, and auspicious emblems on a midnight blue ground, height 37 in., width 56 in.
