A Chinese Lacquer Lidded Box, 19th c. or earlier, with hinges and key hole, the top decorated with two phoenix birds, one in flight and grasping a pair of handscrolls at his breast, the other perched on a rock and surrounded by flowering branches, the sides similarly decorated with bird and floral designs, the interior with a fitted shelf, with purchase receipt dated Macau 1974 and stating that box is 17th c., height 5 3/4 in., width 12 1/2 in., depth 12 1/2 in.
