Description:

A Fine American Aesthetic Carved Walnut Hanging Collector's Cabinet, late 19th c., School of Pittman/Fry, Cincinnati, the arched backsplash over a pair of paneled glazed doors flanked by bracketed candle shelves, and a stepped shelf below, height 55 in., width 54 in. E2000-3000 Note: The overall design and dominant style of this cabinet indicates a Cincinnati source. Additionally, the stylized sunflower petal carving on the quarter round brackets is nearly identical to the carved lunettes atop a carved walnut mantel in the collection of W. Roger Fry and made by W. H. Fry (Cincinnati, wc. 1851-1885). Reference: see Johnson, et al In Pursuit of Beauty, p. 157, pl. 5.14.
