.A Fine American Carved and Inlaid Rosewood Double-Easel, c. 1875, New York, attributed to Herter Bros., each side of the framed top incorporating a pedimented carved frieze and inlaid frame with centered brass adjustable track, (missing the "slide" attachment), on conforming inlaid table base joined by stretcher shelf, brass casters, height 86.25in width 28in., depth 16in. E8000-12000 Note: A very closely related floral marquetry band is found on a documented demi lune parlor cabinet. The japonesque floral carving and overall form of the base are similar to that of pieces made for William H. Vanderbilt and Mark Hopkins.
