A Fine American Chippendale Carved Mahogany Highboy, c. 1770, New York, the rectangular molded cornice above three short drawers over three long drawers, the chamfered corners deeply fluted; the lower case with conforming molding above a long drawer, and with a central drawer over a double arch flanked by small drawers, on bold cabriole legs with shell-carved knees ending in ball and claw feet; poplar secondary wood, height 75.5in., width 47 in., depth 24 in. Provenance: Ginsburg and Levy, New York.
