Description:

A Fine American Classical Carved Mahogany Sofa, c. 1810-1825, Philadelphia, attributed to Anthony Quervelle, the crest with paired reeded scrolls centering a scalloped acanthus carved crest with frieze panel below, tightly scrolled arms, blocked, molded seat rail, anthemion and rosette carved paw feet, height 35.5in., length 88 in., depth 20 in. E3000/4000 Note: The form of this classical sofa with the tablet crest and scrolled arms is typical of those made in Philadelphia at the height of the classical period in the mid-1820's.
