A Fine American Classical Coin Silver Presentation Pitcher, marks of Marquand & Co., retailer, wc. 1834-1839, plain inverted pear-form on a stepped pedestal base, applied die-rolled classical bands, hollowcast foliate S scroll handle, engraved in script "To/ Abraham R. Laurence, Esq./ Presented by the unanimous vote/ of the Directors of the/ New York and Harlem/ Rail Road Company/ As a token of Esteem and Friendship and/ as a just Testimonial of the important services/ as their President zealously/ and successfully promoted/their best interests./ New York June 1st 1839", marked on the bottom "MARQUAND & CO" incised in an arc, over "NEW YORK" incised in a complimentary arc height 16 1/8 in., weight 37.30 troy ozs.
