A Fine American Federal Carved Mahogany Sofa, early 19th c., Baltimore, continuous reeded frame, distinctive winged downswept arms on reeded baluster supports, bowed seat, reeded tapering legs, brass cuffs, casters, height 40 in., width 76 in., depth 25 in.
- Provenance: Provenance: Charles & Rebekah Clark, Woodbury, Connecticut. Note: The boldly reeded arm supports and legs on this sofa are nearly identical to those found on two sofas attributed to William Camp (fl. 1801-1822) and conserved by the Maryland Historic Society, including a mahogany sofa made for Dr. William Hilleary (Fredrick, 1775-1834) (acc. 89.8); a sofa descended in the Baker family of Baltimore (acc. 67.50.2).
