A Fine American Rococo Carved Rosewood and Laminated Slipper Chair, c. 1850-1860, attributed to J. H. Belter, New York, in a close variant of the pattern commonly referred to as "Fountain Elms", the tall pierced rose-carved back with oak leaf and foliate scrolled stiles, padded back and seat, serpentine rose-carved seat rail on acanthus cabriole legs, casters, height 45 in.
