A Fine and Rare Paris Porcelain Dessert Service, mid-19th Century comprising a large footed compote, a pair of tazzas and ten matching plates (13 pcs. total), all signed "J.P." in underglaze blue, for Jacob Petit (French, 1796-1869), and several plates also inscribed in underglaze red "Rousseau rue coquilliere - No. 43", each piece decorated with central gilt rosette in "Cathedral Style", within a deep apple-green band interrupted by six Rococo-style cartouches, their reserves painted with birds and fruits (one cartouche, on each piece, occupied by an armorial crest in the form of a knight's casque and visor), and each piece bordered by a gilded edge band of shells and rocaille ornament in high relief; compote height 61-2 in., diameter 101/4 in.; tazza height 5 in., diameter 9 in.; plate diameter 91-2 in.
