A Fine Baltimore Classical Mahogany Sofa, c. 1825, in the manner of William Camp, the crest rail with boldly reeded tablet above scrolled arms terminating in rosettes, the seat rail interspersed with paterae, the sabre legs ending in brass paw feet, height 36.5in., width 94in. depth 24in. E2000-3000 Note: A nearly identical sofa is illustrated in Furniture in Maryland by Gregory Weidman, plate 129, page 166. This form is ascribed to William Camp bases on similarities to documented pieces. William Camp (1773-1822) was a leading Baltimore Cabinetmaker who ran the largest shop in the heart of "Cabinetmakers Row".
