A Fine Continental Polychrome and Stencil-Gilt Porcelain Oval Platter, c. 1810, by Johann Ferstler (Austrian, b. 1776), "Venus Mourning the Death of Adonis", inscribed "Joh. Ferstler pinx 1810" lower right, extensively and illegibly inscribed in German en verso, 12 7/8 in. x 16 1/4 in. oval.

  • Notes: Note: Following his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Furstler worked as a porcelain decorator from 1797-1820, specializing in figure painting.
