A Fine French Faïence Plate and Matching Deep Platter, late 18th c., both Marseilles, possibly factory of Joseph-Gaspard Robert, decor floral, plate diameter 9 3/4 in.; platter: length 15 in., width 10 3/4 in. Note: The pale palette, artful asymmetry and prominent butterflies suggest a comparison with c. 1770 Robert plate of c. 1770: Boone Collection (Los Angeles, 1998), p. 63, color pl. 37.
