A Fine George III-Style Satinwood and Polychromed Bookcase and Cylinder Bureau, early-to-mid 19th c., the rectangular molded cornice with dart and leaf border above an arcaded frieze supporting split pendants, the geometric glazing bars painted verta and gold, the lower panels featuring allegories, the rectangular lid decorated with an oval cavorting putto on the back of a ram and framed by shaded beading the well-fitted interior with baize-lined divided surface and pull out central writing board, the lower frieze with a pair of drawers, on square tapered legs ornamented by floral pendant chains ending in spade feet, height 99.5in., width 42 in., depth 23 in. E18000/25000 Note: The firm of Wright and Mansfield, London was the earliest exponent of the Classical manner interpreted by Robert Adam which developed in the early Victorian period. The taste for this furniture led to many 18th century pieces being enhanced by leading 19th century cabinet shops, and developed further into the Edwardian period.
