A Fine Pair of American Late Classical Mahogany Sidechairs, c. 1835, attributed to Duncan Phyfe, New York, having a bowed crest rail, shaped splat and sabre legs, the slip seat upholstered in haircloth damask. E700-1000 Note: The ox-bow crest rail, waisted back and saber legs seen in lot 564 are all elements seen in other known chairs from the Phyfe workshop, including those in a set made by Phyfe for his daughter Eliza Vail and a chair attributed to Phyfe in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
