A Fine Pair of English Carved Mahogany Hall Chairs, mid-19th c., each back with polychromed achievement of arms within an oval, gothicized crest, lion's mask terminals, molded stiles, rectangular seats, curule legs centered with a masque, paw feet.
Note: This achievement of arms is associated with Craven County, North Carolina. It is a variant of the coat-of-arms of William, Earl of Craven whose nephew William, Lord Craven succeeded him as Lord Proprietor of Carolina.
