A Fine Pair of Late Federal Cuban Mahogany Games Tables, c. 1800-1825 attributed to the workshop of Haines and Connelly, Philadelphia, each with a shaped fold-over top with reeded edges, above a conforming highly figured apron with rosewood banding, raised on turned, tapered, reeded legs, with swing leg to the rear, height 30 in., width 36 in., depth 34 in. Note: The distinctive legs with tapered reeding and a tall baluster foot, are typical of those from the Philadelphia workshops of Ephraim Haines (1768-1815) and Henry Connelly (1770-1826). Reference: A dining table with legs of very similar form attributed to Ephraim Haines is illustrated in William MacPherson Hornor, Jr., Blue Book of Philadelphia Furniture, plate 399.
