A Fine Philadelphia Classical Carved Mahogany Center Table, c 1825, attributed to Anthony Quervelle, the circular tilt top with crotch mahogany veneers radiating from a rosewood disc, each fan segment is further enhanced by an ellipse of fine mahogany, and with a border of rosewood and satinwood, the vigorously reeded urn form pedestal with foliate carving, on an incurvate triangular plinth on animal paw feet projecting from acanthine brackets, height 29 in., width 42 in., depth 42 in E5000-8000 Note: A labeled Quervelle table with a nearly identical pedestal and foot is illustrated in The Magazine Antiques, July 1973, 'The Furniture of Anthony Quervelle' by Robert C Smith, fig 11 pg 95 Ellipses are found accentuating Quervelle's fan segments most often seen on sideboards, and the famous secretary in the Philadelphia Museum of Art (see fig 3).
