A Fine Regency Rosewood and Brass Inlaid Card Table, c. 1820, the D- shaped top bordered with contre-parte die-cut brass, the frieze inlaid with classical motifs, the pillared stem with canted corners on a spreading pedestal, the concave plinth raised on gilt stamped brass scrolled feet, height 29.5in., width 18 in., depth 18 in. E20000/25000 Note: Designed in the French manner popularized in the reign of Louis XIV, this card table with its "boulle" inlay is a fine example of the Regency revival of boulle furniture. Two French 'migr' London-based cabinetmakers, Louis Le Gaigner of Edgeware Road and S. Jamar of Wardour St., advertised as supplying "Superb French Furniture " However, equally important an exponent of this style was George Bulloche. For further information see M.
