A Fine Set of Four George III Sterling Silver Table Candlesticks, London, 1771-72, John Carter, each stop-fluted stem with Corinthian capital, the nozzle recessed into the capital forming a drip pan with a beaded edges, sloped square base with drapery swags and satyr's masks and beaded borders, on one side of each a mask now with script monogrammed oval, lobed bases, some nozzles with engraved crest, height 12.5in. E6000-9000 Provenance: Descended from the estate of Richard Harriss, the first Southerner to serve as president of the New York Cotton Exchange (1922-1953). Mr. Harriss was the owner of White Hall and Pecania Plantations, and spent his later life in Vidalia, Louisiana.
