A Finely Carved American Classical Mahogany Tester Bed, early 19th c. possibly Charles-Honore Lannuier (New York 1779-1819) the molded tester above well turned posts with feather, rope, acanthus and concentric ring turnings ending in brass ball feet; the headboard with inset brass molding, with paneled rails, conforming low footboard, height 103 in., width 57 in., length 73 in. Reference: A mahogany pier table stamped by Lannuier with brass molding in the French taste, now in the Winterthur collection along with other related examples, appears in Peter Kenny, 'Honore Lannuier's Furniture and Patrons, Recent Discoveries', The Magazine Antiques, May 1998 p. 717, pl. IV.
