A French Bronze of "La Jeunesse", after Henri-Michel Antoine Chapu (French, 1833-1891), c. 1880, the classically draped figure stretching to place a laurel branch atop the column, signed "h. Chapu" and inscribed "F. BARBEDIENNE FONDEUR", with a bronze plaque reading "A Mr. ERNEST NICOLLE PRÉSIDENT DE LA SOCIÉTÉ DE GÉOGRAPHIE DE LILLE/ 1900-1908/ LES MEMBRES DU COMITÉ D'ÉTUDES", on a pedestal decorated with gilt bronze floral swags, bronze height 37 1/2 in., width 14 1/2 in., depth 12 1/4 in., overall height 72 in.
