A George II Sterling Silver Waiter, John Tuite (ent. 1721), London, c 1738, with engraved armorial, border of scroll motifs interspersed by shells and raised on three feet, diameter 6.375in., weight 8.2 troy ozs. Provenance: Albert Charles Hencken (1871-1951), by descent to the present owner. Note: John Tuite, son of James Tuite of Drogheda, worked as a silversmith in Dublin between 1710 and 1720 before moving to London. He specialized in making salvers. He died in 1740.
