A Good Louis XV-Style Kingwood and Ormolu Mounted Vitrine-on-Stand, c 1875, the top and the base each stamped T. Mellier & Co., London, the upper stage with serpentine glazed door enclosing a velvet and satin-lined display cabinet, the pediment cresting in a cartouche, the console outlined in gilt bronze moldings, the cabriole legs headed by chutes, the shelf bordered by a pierced gallery, the feet mounted with sabots, height 74 in., width 45 in., depth 17 in. E15000-25000 Note: Mellier & Co. operated at 2 Frith Street, near Soho Square, and later Margaret St. They advertised themselves as "specialists in the rich decorative styles of the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries". They became best known for their fine examples of antique French furniture and were among the English manufacturers who exhibited at the 1904 St Louis International Exhibition.
