A Good Regency Mahogany Bookcase and Cabinet, early 19th c., stamped T Willson/68/Great Queen Street, London, in the Chippendale taste, having a broken arch pierced pediment with dentil molding and fluted frieze below, glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves, the cabinet base with fluted waist, paneled doors below and raised on molded bracket foot base, height 99 in., width 48.5in., depth 19 in E5000- 7000 Note: Thomas Willson established his furniture business at 68 Great Queen Street in 1818, where he sold wares from his own workshop older cabinets from the Georgian era, and fine furniture made by other fashionable makers such as the Gillows firm After Willson's death in the 1830's, the business continued under his wife Mary and then son Matthew, and the 'T Willson' mark, like that used in the example above, was changed Reference: Gilbert, Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture, 1700-1840, 1996, p 56, figs 989-1006.
