A Good Set of Four Innovative American Spring Steel Chairs, late 19th Century the curved backs with steel straps over a round seat and wrought legs, height 37 in. E800-1200 Note: Parisian designer Francios Carre originally held the patent and made this type of spring steel chair. The New York firm Lalance & Grosjean bought the patent in 1866. In 1892 the model appeared in Schlesinger, Weissener & Co.'s catalog 'Best Steel Furniture' as a 'Boulevard' chair.
