  • Notes: Note: Peter Arrell Brown Widener (1834-1915) was one of the most prominent businessmen in America. With seed money from his Philadelphia Traction Company he became one of the founders of U.S. Steel and the American Tobacco Company. An avid art collector, he filled Lynnewood Hall, his 110-room Georgian mansion, with works by Rembrandt, Manet and Renoir. Tragedy struck later in his life when his son and grandson went down on the R.M.S. Titanic.
