A Group of Three Japanese Painted Textile Designs, late Meiji Period (1868-1912), ink and color on paper, reputedly from an album of Nishijin textile designs, 16 1/4 in. x 10 1/2 in., each matted and framed alike.

  • Notes: Note: The roots of Nishijin weaving go back some 1,200 years to the founding of Kyoto, during the Heian Period when a government textiles agency was set up to monitor the production of textiles for court nobles. The Nishijin district of Kyoto still exists today.
