Inlaid and Ebonized Salon Table, c. 1870, New York, the rectangular inlaid top with blocked corners and chamfered molding, inlaid skirt, on turned and stop fluted legs joined by an incurvate urn-centered stretcher, the toupie feet ending in India rubber casters, height 31.5in., width 48 in., depth 28 in. E5000-8000 Provenance: Found "in situ" with Herter cabinet, lot 330. Note: The vocabulary of the inlay, and design elements such as stretcher urn on this table relate to furniture attributed to Herter Bros.; the India rubber casters are also indicative of Herter pieces.
