A Hyde and Goodrich Coin Silver Cup, New Orleans, c. 1855, marked 'Hyde & Goodrich' in a rectangle on the bottom, baluster form having repousse chased floral and scroll cartouche engraved 'Martha' in script, beading below lip and on the footband, hollowcast double scroll handle with thumbpiece, height 3.5in., weight 3 troy ozs. Provenance: The Turnbull-Bowman family of Rosedown Plantation, St. Francisville, LA. Most likely a christening cup for Martha Turnbull Bowman, born 1858. The Turnbull-Bowman Family Papers archived at LSU hold a bill of sale from Hyde & Goodrich to Mr. Turnbull for two silver cups, dated January 28, 1857.
