A Japanese Bronze Figural Group of Two Samurai Sumo Wrestlers, Meiji period (1868-1912), the struggling figures with bare pates and knotted hair wearing a fringed kesho-mawashi (loincloth) typical of the Edo period, cast with legs entwined on an equal plane, with straining, almost grotesque features, height 10 3/4 in., mounted to a bronze "low table" plinth, height with plinth 13 in.
