A Japanese Carved Hardwood Writing Desk, Meiji Period (1868-1912), the superstructure fitted with cabinets, drawers and cubbyholes, elaborately carved and pierced with egrets among irises, the lower section with a pierced dragon head and cloud spray apron, four small drawers, and winged-creature scaled cabriole legs ending in ball and claw feet, height 57 1/2 in., width 53 in. Provenance: Descended in a New Orleans Family.
