A Japanese Satsuma Earthenware Bowl, Meiji Period (1868-1912), the lobed interior painted in enamels and gilt with a large flori-form reserve of Kannon surrounded by numerous Rakan and acolytes, the exterior with figural panels of Kannon and Rakan alternating between decorative panels painted in gilt on a cobalt blue ground, the base marked Satsuma yaki beneath a shimazu mon crest, height 4 3/4 in., diameter 10 1/2 in.
