A Japanese Traveling Tea Shodana (Cabinet), 19th c., possibly shitan wood, rectangular with rounded dove-tailed corners, the front in two sections, the upper with tambour doors concealing a shelved interior within a frame enhanced by raised, entwined scrollwork, the lower section consisting of a single drawer with recessed, carved pulls, the reverse concealing a footed tray above a carved panel, the whole surmounted by a carved carrying handle, height 10 3/4 in., width 12 1/4 in., depth 7 1/4 in.
