A Large and Rare Newcomb College Art Pottery High Glaze Vase, 1903, decorated by Marie De Hoa LeBlanc (active Newcomb 1898-1914), thrown by Joseph Meyer, with alternating vertical bands of yellow Louisiana iris buds or blossoms outlined in blue on blue underglaze wash, the base marked with two Newcomb ciphers, decorator and potter signatures, date letter Z22, and marked for buff clay body (incised and in blue underglaze), height 16.5in., diameter 6.5in.
