A Large Italian Bronze Figure of the Elder of the 'Furietti Centaurs' after the antique, height 51.5in., length 38 in., width 15 in. Note: The celebrated pair of life-size Centaurs discovered at Hadrian's Villa, Tivoli, by Cardinal Furietti in 1736, were purchased for the Capitoline Museum, Rome, in 1765; they had begun to inspire bronze copies and reductions by the mid-1750s.
