A Louis XV Carved Walnut Sofa, 18th c., stamped M. Cresson, the sloping crest rail and seat back adorned with C-scrolls, floral sprays, tendrils and rosettes, above a curved and padded arm rest with rocaille decoration and similar conforming apron beneath, with foliate knees on sabot feet, height 39 1/2 in., width 78 in., depth 29 1/2 in. E4000-6000 Note: Michel Cresson (1709-1781, maŒtre 1740) was the youngest son of Jean Cresson, a menuisier of the early 18th c. With a workshop in the rue de Cl‚ry 'Au Gros Chapelet', his production of Louis XV furniture compares closely to that of his brother Louis. The Cresson family supplied seat furniture to the Prince de Cond‚ for the Palais Bourbon and for Chantilly.
