A Fine Louis XVI-Style Gilt Bronze-Mounted Purplewood, Parquetry and Vernis Martin Commode, late 19th/early 20th c., Victor Raulin, Paris, labeled, inset marble top, frieze fitted with concealed drawer, paneled doors painted with putti and maidens on a dark green ground, fluted columns to the sides, fluted tapered leg with rosettes, height 39 1/2 in., width 49 1/2 in., depth 19 in Note: Victor Raulin took over his father's business in 1878. He exhibited at the Paris Expositions Universelles of 1878 and 1889 where he was awarded medals for his entries. The lock plate on this commode is marked "209 Boulevard Saint-Germain" where the firm was located from 1882 to 1925.
