A Louisiana Carved Mahogany Campeche Chair, 20th c., Ruppert Kohlmaier, Sr. and Jr., New Orleans, the scrolled crest, incurvate back and continuous seat upholstered in brown leather with nailhead trim, large scrolling arms on baluster supports, curule base, turned stretcher.

  • Notes: Note: Best known for exquisitely crafted furniture after Massachusetts and English designs, the shop of Ruppert Kohlmaier, Sr. (1906-2002) and Ruppert Kohlmaier, Jr., also produced objects after early Louisiana prototypes, such as the campeche chair seen here, and often using figured cypress veneer.
