A Louisiana State Fair "First Prize" Crazy Quilt, dated 1892, signed by 4 artists ("JL", "D", "C", "D"), from LA State Fair in Shreveport, with entry tag and 1st prize tag, the nine full and three partial panels featuring animals and fan motifs, hand-painted, appliqued and embroidered in chenille, bullion, running, long and short stitches, on burgundy velvet ground with original backing and pom-pom fringe. E1200 1800 Provenance: Descended in the family of General Clyde Beck to his daughter Elinor Kirkham. This quilt is in excellent condition and exhibits exemplary workmanship. Some of the fabric dates to the 1850's and includes men's vest material and ombre ribbon.
