A Monumental American Neo-Grec Carved and Burl Walnut Pier Mirror,c.1875-80, New York, attributed to Herter Bros., the crest centering a portrait bust of a Classical maiden, the arched mirror framed by a course of stylized beaded molding and flanked by stop-fluted Ionic columns, on a two drawer base, approx. height 128in., width 81in., depth 18in. E6000-8000 Note: The carved portrait bust bears resemblance to several of those carved by Herter Bros. (see Howe, Frelinghuysen et al, Herter Brothers, Furniture and Interiors for a Gilded Age, pg. 220, cat. no. 17 and Fireplace at Elm Park) but is carved in much finer detail of the features, hair and scarf Provenance: Lucky Pierre's, the legendary nightclub formerly located at 900 Bourbon Street.
