A Monumental American Neo-Grec Walnut and Burl Walnut Hallstand, late 19th c., attributed to Thomas Brooks, New York, the anthemion crest above a stylized cartouche with broken arch pediment, the massive mirror plate over a shaped grey marble top above a drawer flanked by umbrella wells, with conforming plinth, height 109 in., width 65 in., depth 24 in. Note: The use of an anthemion and 'd' form shield on the crest of this hallstand is very similar to the crest of a walnut bed and dresser signed by Thomas Brooks sold in these rooms on February 26, 1994 as lot 651.
