A Monumental Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Vase, 19th c., baluster body with foliate rim, the neck molded with playful Buddhistic lion and cub handles, the shoulders with twin dragons, finely painted with large figural panels, reserved on a dense blue ground strewn with floral sprays, height 35 1/2 in. Note: Old staple repairs at base.
PLEASE NOTE: Provenance: Acquired from the Estate of Mrs. Gabriel Disosway, wife of noted American Air Force Four-Star General Gabriel P. Disosway (1910-2001), who, by repute, received the above lot as a gift from Chiang Kai-shek, in the mid-1940s. Gen. Disosway received many awards and decorations during his lifetime including the Chinese Order of the Cloud and Banner, bestowed on him by the Republic of China.
