A Napoleon III Gilt Bronze and Alabaster Mantel Garniture, mid-19th c , comprising a mystery clock and a pair of five-light candelabra, the clock pedestal centered by a circular chapter dial calibrated in Roman numerals and supporting an allegorical female figure representing Science and Industry, her arm raised holding a pendulum, her hand displaying a steam locomotive, each candelabrum having an urn form standard, the scrolled branches and central branch issuing dish- shaped drip pans and bud-form candle nozzles, the pedestal mounted by a cartouche, the rectangular plinth on toupie feet, height 23 in.
