A Near Pair of Louis XV Crème Peinte Side Chairs, late 18th c., one stamped J.B. Cresson, scalloped shaped back, one with floral carving, wide serpentine seat, scalloped seat rail on foliate cabriole legs with sabot feet, one with ornate hooves, height 36 1/2 in. Note: The Cresson family supplied seat furniture to the Prince de Condé for the Palais-Bourbon and for Chantilly. Known makers from this family working in the early and mid-18th c. include brothers Jean and Charles Cresson, and second generation Michel, Louis, and Jean-Baptiste Cresson.
