A New Orleans Cast Concrete Garden Sculpture of a Boy Seated on a Tree Stump, c. 1930, signed "Dognibene/N.O. LA" on the tree stump behind the left leg, having his hands held together to hold a fishingpole, traces of the original paint remaining, height 68 in., width 13 in., depth 22 in., note: the fishing pole lacking. E3000/5000 Note: Henry L. Dognibene was born in France and emigrated from Nice to New York. In New York, Mr. Dognibene designed furniture for the elite, such as the Dupont Family. He came to New Orleans before World War II and started a cement design business. There were many examples of his products in New Orleans like the concrete and wooden benches used at Loyola University. The sculpture " The Fishing Boy" was a popular one and can still be found on several locations along the Scenic Route onthe Gulf Coast.
